Getting started

Set your defaults and theme

Choose the shape, length, layout, caption look and theme Klyp uses for every new video.

Updated

On this page
  1. Defaults for new videos
  2. Default caption look and effects
  3. Light, dark or black

Every new video starts from your defaults, so a minute in Settings saves you the same changes on every clip. You can still change anything per video or per clip later.

Defaults for new videos

  1. Open Settings in the top bar and go to Defaults.
  2. Pick the Language (or leave Auto-detect), the Number of clips (Auto finds every strong moment) and the Clip length: Auto, Short (15–30 s), Medium (30–60 s), Long (60–90 s) or Up to 3 min.
  3. Pick a Layout — Auto, Follow speaker, Split screen, Fit + blur or Center — and your Speech quality: Fast, Balanced or Best.
  4. Leave Render clips automatically on if you want the best clips rendered as soon as they are found.
  5. Press Save in the bar that appears at the bottom (or Ctrl S).

Default caption look and effects

The Captions and Effects sections work like the ones in the editor. Whatever you choose here is used for every new clip — handy for keeping a series consistent.

Light, dark or black

Under Appearance, choose System, Dark, Black (true black, good for OLED screens) or Light, plus an accent colour. The theme is saved on this device and applies right away; the same switch is in the top bar.
