On this page
  1. Trim the start and end
  2. Cut words from the middle
  3. Undo, redo and shortcuts

Open any clip to edit it. The preview is in the middle, the panels (Looks, Captions, Effects, Layout, Hook, Text, Post) are on the side, and the timeline is at the bottom.

Trim the start and end

  • Drag the edges of the clip on the timeline.
  • Or play to a spot and press I (start here) or O (end here).
  • Press [ / ] to move the start or end one word, with Shift to move the other way.

Cut words from the middle

  1. Drag over words on the timeline, or click a piece of the clip.
  2. Press Delete. The words are cut from the video and the captions.
  3. Press S to split the clip at the playhead if you want to cut a whole section.

You can also click a word in the captions on the preview and choose Cut this word. Cuts are shown on the timeline and can be restored.

Undo, redo and shortcuts

  • Ctrl Z undo, Ctrl Shift Z redo (⌘ on Mac). The buttons show what will be undone.
  • Space play/pause, ← → step 0.1 s, with Shift 1 s, M mute.
  • Ctrl Enter renders the clip. Press ? to see every shortcut.
  • Shortcuts use the key position, so they also work on Russian or Uzbek keyboard layouts.
